Thank you so much for giving me the opporutnity to capture some wondering moments for your family. I know we can create beautiful memories together.
My sessions are lifestyle, loosely posed with some direction, capturing your family playing, snuggling, laughing and just loving each other. These moments are unique to you that capture and reflect your personalities and the love in your family.
I prefer my newborn sessions to be in the morning, at around 10 am. This means babies are in the best mood for the day and gives us plentyof time to do the shoot on the baby’s schedule (and older kids also if you have them!).
Newborns
Try to have your newborns fed as much as you can. We all know that most babies have their own schedules and we can work around this. I often stop for babies to feed or nappy change during the sessions and as you are my only session for the day we can take as long as we need if bub is unsettled.
Older Children
Preparing your kids for the session can help to reduce the timidness in the session. However, if you child is timid and gets overwhelmed, please do not worry! It is my job to work with your kids to get them happy for the session. Please also do not worry if your kids are a little OTT. I have spent many sessions running around with kids, chasing kids, playing with their toys to get their trust to come and get some photos.
What to Wear
Ah! The eternal question of what to wear. Styling is something I can help you with, however, the main aim is something that you are comfortable in and love to wear.
My main point is for you to Co-Ordinate!
I suggest picking at least 3 colours for your session.
Muted earthy tones work best.
Pick one or two people in in the family to wear something first then plan the rest of the outfits colours to compliment those outfits.
Please note some prints are ok, but not neon colours, logos and a lot of stripes. It can take away from the visuals of your gorgeous family!
During the session
During the session I usually take photos in the living areas, the baby’s room, and the master bedroom. Please try and have these areas clutter free as you can. I completely understand though, that having just brought a newborn home, cleaning the clutter can be the last thing that happens. So do not stress about this. Just have your bed nicely made, the cushions plumped on the couch and some cute newborn stuff ready to go. I can move what I need to move on the day, and sometimes I even move furniture to get the shots that I want.
I will position and pose you for what I think will work best with the room and the light. I believe the best images come from the interactions between you and your family and not always when people are looking at the camera.
If you have anything in particular you would like photographed during the session, like a handmade blanket, a bath time, feeding, playing or being read to, please let me know and I will get that in the session
These precious moments go way too fast and I understand the need to document them, with you in the image.
Thank you and I can’t wait to meet you and your family.
